Starlight Lily QAL: Week 3

IMG_4998.jpg

I hope you all had fun making your blocks because this week we’re making more! Your goal for this week is to finish all 16 Lily Blocks. I’ve got three finished so if I make two more each day I’ll be right on track. You all posted some really cute finished blocks—remember to tag your posts #starlightlilyqal to be entered to win this week’s prize—a $25 gift certificate from Pink Door Fabrics!

Tip for this week: Help my blocks are not 8.5” square!

  1. Maybe don’t worry about it! (Often my preferred solution!) If they are all consistently a little small, it won’t impact the design. Just assemble the blocks as instructed and measure the finished center square of 16 blocks to determine the width of the border.

  2. Check that you printed your templates at 100%. Some printers automatically print PDFs at 98%—why??—so that would make your blocks just a little small.

  3. Make sure you are really getting your seams nice and flat.

  4. Make sure you are sewing right on the line on both sides when you are joining two template sections.

I love that we have some new paper piecers joining the quilt along! By the end of this week you will be a pro and ready to tackle some of the really super cool paper piecing patterns out there!
